Skydiving for charity in 2020?

Skydiving simply involves free-falling from the sky, but needs to be from a height of 4,000m or more. The highest skydive completed was by Felix Baumgartner, who jumped from 39,000 metres (24 miles) and broke the sound barrier in 2012. You may recall it as the Red Bull Skydive, due to Baumgartner’s sponsor.

With Children In Need just passed and New Year approaching, have you considered preparing for a new mission: to complete a skydive for charity? Or maybe you have skydived before and want to again – only this time a little further afield.

Either way, skydiving is a unique experience and can be done in more than one place – not necessarily in the UK. We have looked at the types of skydives you can do, in some of Europe’s unknown destinations, for a healthy dose of adrenaline in an exciting location.

tandem skydiving

Tandem skydiving in Slovenia or Croatia

For a tandem skydiving experience in two Eastern European countries along the Adriatic Sea you could learn to skydive in Slovenia and do a Tandem skydive for charity in Croatia, before chilling out on one of Croatia’s plentiful islands in the Adriatic Sea.

No experience is necessary. In a tandem jump you are linked to an Accelerated Freefall (AFF) instructor. It is also the most affordable and easiest way, as well as the most reassuring approach for those new to the sport!

Bovec in Slovenia does have a sky diving school with AFF instructors if you want to take the plunge (or rather, the dive) and tackle a freefall on your own. Other places to take to the skies in Slovenia include Bled and Bohinj.

For sky diving locations in Croatia visit:

  • Zagreb
  • Zadar
  • Hvar
  • Istria
  • Losinj
  • Rijeka
